Leaders in Trans Nzoia have eulogised Former powerful provincial Commissioner John Etemesi who died suddenly yesterday at his home in Sibanga, Trans Nzoia County.
Etemesi aged 90 years was a powerful and renowned Civil servant during Kenyatta, Moi and Kibaki regime in different ranks.
His family has said that burial arrangements are in top gear at his quiet home in Sibanga area, Sitatunga ward, Cherangany constituency.
Trans Nzoia governor Patrick Khaemba eulogised Etemesi as a great leader who valued education and development.
“I am really saddened by the demise of Mzee Etemesi, I have known him for quite some time because he was once my boss.” Said Khaemba
He noted that Etemesi was a patriot who rose through ranks of civil service to that of Provincial Commissioner.
Other leaders who mourned his death include Cherangany M.P Joshua Kutuny,Kiminini M.P Chris Wamalwa and County Women Representative Janet Nangabo.
Sitatunga Member of County assembly Daniel Kaburu where Etemesi lived said he was shocked by the sudden death of Etemesi.
He noted that the deceased died on his birthday and many will remember him as a disciplinarian who had great values in life.
“I have lost a great leader, a father and a counselor who valued education so much to a point of providing part of his land to build a school and church. That was Mzee Etemesi for you, he would do anything to better the lives of others.” Kaburu said.
However the family called for patience from the public as they mourn their father who they referred to as pillar of their family.
The body of the deceased was sent to Eldoret morgue as burial preparations continue.
