Treasury CS Henry Rotich, PS Kamau Thugge and other accused persons have been presented before magistrate Douglas Ogoti at the Milimani Law Courts. The accused persons, 28 in number, are facing graft charges, in their involvement with the Arror and Kimwarer dams in Elgeyo Marakwet. DPP Noordin Haji ordered the arrest of the suspects on Monday, following extensive investigations into the scandal, where approximately Kshs 17 billion was lost.
DPP Haji said the whole of constructing the dams including the process of procurements and payments was filled with discrepancies. After teh arrest order, Treasury CS Rotich and his PS Kamau Thugge surrendered to the DCI headquarters.
