His sentiments were echoed by Fred Masafu, who termed the late Trutea as a strong lady who was always there to provide guidance and ensured they grew up with respect.
Their father William Wanyonyi Masafu also eulogized the late Trutea, saying she was a loving wife and very respectful who helped him raise their children well.
Leaders who attended the funeral led by Bungoma County governor Kenneth Lusaka noted that it was unfortunate that some youths heckle other leaders at such gatherings which is
unfortunate. Governor Lusaka said that during this campaign period, they need to call for
political rallies and air their views to citizens adding that funeral gatherings should only be used to send messages of condolences to the bereaved families.
His sentiments were echoed by Kimilili MP Suleiman Murunga who called
upon politicians to shun using funeral gatherings to cause chaos. The governor also took the opportunity to call upon doctors to suspend their ongoing strike and return to work, saying many of the residents have really suffered due to lack of medical services in hospitals.
Bungoma County women representative Dr. Reginalda Wanyonyi who also attended the funeral, praised the late Trutea saying she was a pillar in the family and her services will be greatly missed.
Other leaders who attended the funeral include Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula, MPs Eseli Simiyu (Kimilili), Wafula Wamunyinyi (Kanduyi) and a host of other political aspirants from Bungoma County.
