The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has been blamed for turning a deaf ear to concerns from teachers especially the principals who may have sought to be transferred from their stations due to genuine reasons. Addressing mourners during the burial ceremony of St Bridgit Kitayi high school principal Brenda Mamati in Kimilili constituency, Bungoma County public administration CEC Sabwami Keya said many principals have died due to pressure and stress.
He called upon the commission to be considerate of the teachers issues so as not to lose many colleagues in the noble profession. Bungoma County KUPPET secretary Augustine Luketelo on the other hand lashed at Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa for allegedly inciting parents not to pay for their children’s lunch fees saying it is wrong.
He said learning activities in institutions should not be politicised as some programs are in place as per agreement between parents and the school management. The late principal was eulogised as a hard-working and committed teacher who was always ready to help.
