The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has today May 6 announced a significant recruitment drive, seeking to fill 2,014 teaching positions across Kenya. This initiative aims to address vacancies arising from teachers who have left the service for various reasons.

The newly advertised roles include 1,309 positions in primary schools, 32 in junior schools, and 673 in secondary schools. According to a notice published in the latest MyGov publication, successful candidates will be employed on permanent and pensionable terms.

To be eligible for these teaching positions, applicants must be Kenyan citizens and registered teachers with the TSC. For primary school roles, a P1 certificate is the minimum requirement. Those interested in teaching positions in junior secondary or secondary schools must hold a Diploma in Education and have attained a minimum grade of C+ in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), along with a C+ grade in the two subjects they intend to teach.

The TSC has emphasized that all applications must be submitted online through their official website, accessible via www.tsc.go.ke or teachersonline.tsc.go.ke. The deadline for submitting applications is by midnight on Monday, May 19, 2025.

In a parallel announcement, the TSC has also begun the search for a new Chief Executive Officer. This follows the upcoming retirement of the current CEO, Nancy Macharia, in June of this year. The position of CEO, who also serves as the Secretary to the Commission, requires qualified Kenyan citizens holding a degree in education. Furthermore, candidates must possess at least ten years of experience in the education and administration sectors and demonstrate a high level of integrity.

Qualified Kenyans are strongly encouraged to apply for both the teaching vacancies and the CEO position through the designated online portals before the respective deadlines. This recruitment drive presents a significant opportunity for educators and experienced leaders to contribute to the Kenyan education sector.
