In a move meant to curb idleness, TVS company handed motorbikes to fifteen youths from Kibingei Ward in Kimilili constituency on loan, guaranteed by area MCA Justus Kibaba.
The MCA said the move is aimed at helping the youths to be on the forefront of improving the economy of the area, saying through the boda boda venture, they will be able to fend for their families and not indulge in destructive activities such as robbery.
He said in conjunction with TVS company, they’ve been able to help the youth, and that the money will be repaid in bits, adding that many of them were jobless while others were using motorbikes belonging to their bosses who took bigger chunks of money at the end of the day.
“Other youths in the constituency will also benefit from this initiative and I call upon them to be on the forefront to work hard and be able to repay the loan and also save some of their earning to purchase other motorbikes of their own,” he said.
Bungoma County women representative aspirant Consolata Wakwabubi urged the youths to be agents of change and to work hard rather than being used negatively as we approach the campaign period ahead of the next general election.
One of the beneficiaries named George thanked the MCA for the initiative saying it will help him cater for the needs of his family as he depended solely on casual jobs previously which were not providing enough money for him.
TVS marketing manager Samuel Njeru said the company has opened up an office in Kimilili to enable quick access to service for their customers saying the motorbike is best suited to the needs of the customers and has a low fuel consumption.
His sentiments were echoed by TVS regional manager Roy Mukewa who called upon other members interested in acquiring motorbikes to visit them saying they give out motorbikes on loan at a deposit of twenty five thousand shillings and the remainder is to be paid within a stretch of one year and a half.
