Two die after grisly road accident in Mumias
Two people are feared dead and 16 others among them a 7 year old critically injured after a grisly road accident yesterday night along the Kakamega Mumias highway road after an Eldoret express Nairobi bound bus collided head on with a matatu heading to Mumias from Kakamega.
According to western region traffic commander Geoffrey Njogu, the accident happened along the Ikonyero area after the driver of the matatu failed to control it when trying to overtake an overcoming tuk tuk hitting an oncoming Eldoret express bus.
The driver of the matatu died on the spot while one of the passenger in the matatu died upon arrival at the Kakamega county general hospital.

The Eldoret express bus was coming from Mumias town heading to Nairobi, but the passengers were brought another bus and allowed to continue with their journey.
Among those critically injured was a 7 year old who however is now in stable condition.
The minister for health Kakamega county Mrs. Penina Mukabane said the injured will have to undergo surgery and already the doctors are handling the situation.
Kakamega county governor Wycliffe Oparanya has send condolences to families that have lost loved ones but has called on all road users to be careful especially during this Easter season bearing in mind that it is a rainy season.
