Two people were killed while four sustained injuries as four houses were torched after a fight erupted between police officers and members of one family at Kandahar village, Ngenyilel location in Turbo Sub County, Uasin Gishu County.
Trouble began after two officers from Kipkaren police station went to arrest two brothers accused of attacking and seriously injuring one of the residents about two weeks ago.
After getting treatment and obtaining a p3 form, the victim, Mr. Andrew Wanyika Indeche (54), led the officers to the suspects’ compound where after arresting and handcuffing one of the suspects, the second suspect emerged accompanied by his three other brothers and their mother all armed with machetes, grabbed the complainant and started slashing him and killed him as the officers watched.
The brothers then turned on the officers cutting one of them on the hand and prompting the second officer to shoot and kill one of the brothers on the spot as one escaped with bullet injuries.
The mother and other son also sustained machete injuries in the process as they scrambled to cut Indeche.
The incident angered residents who decided to torch the suspects’ house vowing never to allow them back in the village. The two bodies were taken to Chebaiywa mortuary as the DCI office launched investigations into the incident.
