Two people died while four others sustained serious injuries following a fatal accident that involved a truck and two motorbikes at Kipkaren market along Eldoret-Webuye highway at the border of Kakamega and Uasin Gishu Counties.
According to the eye witnesses the accident occurred after a motorcycle rider carrying a pillion passenger abruptly emerged from Osorongai road on the Uasin Gishu side and carelessly tried to cross the highway to the opposite side without seeing the truck that was approaching at a very high speed.
The driver tried to swerve to the right to avoid hitting them but he couldn’t and he hit the just in the middle of the highway killing the rider on the spot while his passenger sustained serious injuries.

The truck then proceeded to hit another rider and his passenger on the opposite side of the road before it rammed into traders at the market and injured several before falling on their goods.
The injured were rescued and rushed to nearby private health facilities and the Lumakanda County hospital but one more died while on the way to the hospital.
