Two people have lost their lives and five others severely injured in two separate road accidents in Busia County.
In the first incident, a driver of a matatu died on the spot in a road accident that occurred near Sio bridge between Mundika and Matayos markets along Busia-Kisumu road. Eye witnesses said the driver of the matatu belonging to Bungoma line Company which was heading to Kisumu from Busia lost control after he tried to avoid colliding head-on with another vehicle.
The matatu rolled severally killing the driver, David Ogutu, on the spot and leaving four other passengers with severe injuries.
His body was moved to Busia county referral hospital mortuary while those injured were taken to the same hospital for treatment.
In a second accident, a 22year old woman died on the spot after she was knocked down by a lorry near Aget market along Busia-Malaba road Thursday evening.
Belinda Amoit was coming from Busia town on a motorbike when the lorry knocked them down. The bodaboda operator who was riding the motorbike suffered serious injuries including a broken leg.
