Two robbers were gunned down the morning of November 17, 2015 by police officers at Majengo market in Vihiga after their robbery attempts were thwarted.
The gang of four armed with an AK 47 attacked an Indian shop in the chilly morning incident with an intention of robbing him.
According to the Western Regional Coordinator Mr. Moses Ombati the gang accosted the business man when he was opening his business premises and demanded for cash threatening to shoot him if he did not comply to their directive.
One of the police officers who was at the shop as a customer raised an alarm where other officers from Vihiga Police station responded on time killing two of them on the spot.
The other two managed to escape by a personal car they had parked outside the shop.
The police Boss said this gang has been terrorizing residents in the area for long and urged the residents to work closely with security agencies to secure the region.
“I am requesting the locals to work closely with police by giving vital information that can help us root out criminal elements in the region”. Ombati said.
