Two women suspected to be part of a group of fraudsters that have been targeting teachers saccos across the country, processing loans with fake documents have been arrested in Nandi. They are currently held at the Kapsabet police station and are assisting the police in further investigations. Nandi Central OCPD Stephen Wambua said the two were in a group of three women who had entered the Kapsabet Trans-elite Teachers Sacco to process loans of over Kshs 2 million with fake documents before the sacco management raised an alarm and were nabbed inside the sacco premises. However, one managed to escape.
The Sacco’s chief executive officer felt suspicious that the women were fraudsters after they gave out wrong TSC contacts. The two revealed they are part of a gang of 30 fraudsters who’ve been moving across Kenya targeting teachers’ saccos, using fake documents and teachers details to acquire loans. The police boss said that investigations concerning the matter are ongoing and the two will be arraigned in court as soon as investigations are completed.
