Police in Shinyalu, Kakamega County are holding in custody two suspected thugs in connection with the murder of a night guard, Mark Sokoine, who also worked as a shoe seller at Khayega market.
According to Godfrey Mwayuli, the deceased led a normal life struggling to make ends meet and he last saw him on Thursday evening on his way to his house only to find him dead the following morning. The neighbors claimed they heard sounds of struggles before they shouted for help, leading to the arrest of the suspected thugs.
Area Chief Gerald Murunga confirmed that some other thugs made away with goods and cash whose value could not be estimated.
Murunga called on the residents to corporate with security personnel so that the thugs who’ve been giving residents sleepless nights are dealt with. The chairperson of the Maasai watchmen association in Kakamega County Samwel Longoi asked the government through the police department to allow them lay to bury their colleague at the Kakamega public cemetery.
