A sombre mood engulfed Malaba town in Busia County yesternight after two young women died in unclear circumstances in separate incidences.
In the first incident, Fatuma Mudua, 22, a Ugandan national, was killed by unknown people at around 5 pm on Monday in what is believed to be a failed robbery attempt in her house.
The body of the deceased was found by neighbors tied to her bed before the police arrived and collected it at around 9.30 pm in the evening. She was a newly hired house help working for a Somali couple nearby the famous Gidee Guest house.
In the second incident, the body of Mercy Wanjala, 28, was found along the notorious B. Kubwa area adjacent to Jacky Petrol Station and it’s believed that she was mercilessly murdered by her estranged boyfriend, Eugine Wafula, 25, who is still at large.
Confirming the incidences, the Akadetewai location chief Izaack Emojong expressed his disappointment following the killings promising to ensure the matter is fully investigated and the culprits brought to book.
“I urge Wananchi to remain calm for now. I promise to ensure thorough investigations are conducted to make sure the culprits are apprehended and justice is done to the bereaved families.’’ He said
Our efforts to reach Teso North police commander David Kavuu’s comment, however, were futile.
