The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party which is affiliated to the Deputy President Dr. William Samoei Ruto has launched a membership registration exercise in Likuyani Sub County in efforts to strengthen its support at the grass root level in readiness for the 2022 general elections.
Speaking when he launched the exercise at an event held at Soy club, the acting branch chairman Deberious Shikuku Wafula said his office has laid strategies to popularize the party in the area and ensure it clinches all elective seats in the forthcoming elections.
He said already the party has attracted over 15,000 members from the constituency who are ready to help in popularizing and selling its manifesto to residents and woo more supporters.
Leaders present pledged their loyalty and support to the Deputy President Dr. William Ruto expressing their confidence that he will emerge victorious in the next year’s general elections.
Deberious urged Likuyani residents to massively join and seek UDA membership and be part of the next government.
“Deputy President has a good agenda for this nation and we have confidence in him. He is capable of reviving the dwindling Kenyan economy through his bottom – up approach whereby every Kenyan from grassroots will be engaged in productive activities aimed at empowering them economically,” said Deberious.
Deberious played off perception that Western region was a Ford Kenya and ANC parties’ stronghold saying UDA was a party to beat in the region.
“Just mark our steps, we have come in strongly prepared and we are not leaving anything to chance, as UDA party we are going to win a lot of seats in this region than our competitors,” he said.
Deberious who vied for the Likuyani parliamentary seat on an ODM ticket and finished third in the 2017 general elections has declared his interest of vying for the seat on a UDA ticket in 2022.
However, he said already a number of aspirants for wards and parliamentary seats have shown their interest in the party, calling on more aspirants to join UDA assuring them of a free and fair nomination exercise.
