Bungoma county union of County workers has threatened to go to court if their member’s salaries are delayed.
Let by newly reelected Bungoma County branch Secretary for union of county civil workers Mr. Florian Nganga they said since the county government came into power salaries of people working in the county have been delayed severally without any explanation.
“The county government should from now hence forth pay workers in the stipulated time which is before 5th of every month,” said Nganga.

The leaders also complained over the county government’s tendency to dishonor its circular to pay workers in time. They said many of its members have failed to perform their duties and support their families due to delayed salaries.
The union urged the governor to honor the memo and pay the workers on time. They say they shall be forced to take to court if the governor fails to pay them again on stipulated time.
The union branch secretary said there is a plan on suing the governor and the county executive team for discriminating against unionized workers.
Through their union, Kenya Local Government Workers’ Union, they accused the county government of using every trick in the book to frustrate them.
“Let the governor know that we are not going to retreat if by 5th of every month the salary is not reflecting on the pay slip.” He echoed.
More so he urged the county government to fulfill the salary increment promise that he made to the union before the next general election. Also he assured the members that the union is going to fight for their rights.
He said they were working with the governor to ensure that their needs are looked into. He challenged the governor to release the facilitation for outside travelling to workers to curb the rising complains ever when they go out.
“The counties delay salaries and mishandle our docket.” he added.
His sentiment was supported by KNUT secretary Bungoma county Kennedy Nganga who asked the county government to obey the new dispensation in handling the workers.
