A Twenty Two year old student from the University of Eastern Africa Baraton has drowned at River Kimondi in Nandi after he was over powered by the water while swimming.
The incident took place at around evening hours where the deceased and his colleague had gone for swimming at the river in Lelachgoin village area in Chemundu location.
His colleague tried to rescue him but it was too late as he had already drowned and nothing could be done. The body of the deceased was retrieved from the river by Mosoriot police officers with the help of the locals after a distress alarm was raised.
The body was taken to Kapsabet referral hospital mortuary for preservation and to await the postmortem. The incident has been confirmed by Chesumei police Boss Mr Bosita Omukolongolo who has urged students and the public to avoid such places especially if they don’t have any swimming experience so as to avoid such incidences.
There has been incidences of students loosing their lives through swimming in such rivers, thus students and the general public have been asked to be on the look out and avoid visiting such areas for their safety.
