The vetting of cabinet nominees is reaching a critical stage this Friday as the National Assembly Committee on Appointments intensifies its examination. Following their assessment of notable nominees such as Prof. Kithure Kindiki, Dr. Debra Barasa, Julius Migos Ogamba, Alice Wahome, and Soipan Tuya, the committee will now focus on five additional nominees.
Under the chairmanship of Moses Wetangula, who also serves as Speaker of the National Assembly, the committee will scrutinize the following nominees: Dr. Andrew Mwiihia Karanja, proposed for the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development; Adan Duale, for the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, and Forestry; Eric Muriithi Muuga, for the Ministry of Water, Sanitation, and Irrigation; Davis Chirchir, for the Ministry of Roads and Transport; and Dr. Margret Nyambura Ndung’u, for the Ministry of Information, Technology, and Digital Economy.
The vetting process is scheduled to continue through Saturday and conclude on Sunday.
On August 3, John Mbadi (Treasury), Salim Mvurya (Trade), Rebecca Miano (Tourism), Opiyo Wandayi (Energy) and Kipchumba Murkomen (Sports) will also face the vetting committee in that order.
The final day of the vetting will involve Hassan Joho (Mining), Alfred Mutua (Labour) Wycliffe Oparanya (Cooperatives), Justin Muturi (Public Service) and Stella Lang’at of (Gender).
The results are anticipated to shed light on the nominees’ readiness to assume their roles in the upcoming government.
