A dormitory at Vihiga Boys Friends High School was razed down early on a Friday morning when the students were on parade.
Confirming the incident, Vihiga Sub County Deputy County Commissioner Florence Sitawa said the course of the fire was unknown, noting that 156 students housed in the dormitory were safe.
She urged parents to be calm adding that the school management will handle the situation accordingly.
Sitawa said investigation into the incident has been launched to establish the cause of the inferno.
This comes in a month after Ebwali Secondary school dormitory in Luanda Sub County was razed down.
