Vihiga Sportif Assistant Coach Benbella Lavisa has urged the County Government of Vihiga to rehabilitate some playing grounds to enable football teams in the area to train well.

He said his team was forced to train at school grounds for lack of proper fields in the County.

The County has top teams playing in the Premier league, Vihiga United playing their trade in the men’s league and Vihiga Queens who are currently the champions of the women’s league. Other teams are Vihiga Bullets who are in the National Super League and Luanda Villa.

Lavisa noted that all these teams are forced to train at Kidundu grounds; the field he said is in bad shape and can’t be used.

He said each team has its time to use the grounds, and when there is a heavy downpour it becomes hard for players to use the field for training.

Vihiga United and Vihiga Queens are forced to play their home matches at Mumias stadium in Kakamega.

“I’m urging the County government to set aside funds to rehabilitate some of these fields and build a stadium that these teams can use,” he reiterated.

Lavisa added that Vihiga County has young people with so much talent that is supposed to be nurtured.

“We have many football clubs in Vihiga, and these teams are marketing the County in so many ways,” he said.

He reiterated that the team has played friendly matches with Kakamega Home boys, Vihiga United and Vihiga Bullets, adding that they are well prepared when their division 2 fixtures resumes.
