Delay in bursary disbursement has affected form one admission in Vihiga County. Speaking at the Vihiga County Assembly Wodanga Member of County Assembly Vincent Atsiaya criticized the County Government for the delay of the disbandment of the funds.
The County Government has allocated Kshs 125 Million for bursaries but up to know there’s no single student who has revived bursary and it has affected form one admission in the area.
He said previously the disbursement of the funds was done at the ward level but currently, parents are forced to come and collect bursary forms at County Government Headquarters at Mbale.
“Such services must be taken back closer to the people, and am calling upon the ministry of education in the county to make sure those funds are accessed at the Ward administrators offices to avoid any inconveniences,” he said.
Earlier some residents had protested the formation of Committees to handle the bursary disbursement at the Sub County level saying the exercise was not carried out openly as required.
