Leaders in Vihiga County have mourned the death of football legend Joe Kadenge, who passed away on Sunday in Nairobi. Vihiga Senator George Khaniri they said the late Kadenge’s exemplary contribution to the football fraternity in Kenya shall be missed and remembered in equal measure. “As the country mourns, we in Vihiga County are still coming to terms with the big loss,” said Khaniri.
The late Kadenge hailed from Kidinye Village in Vihiga Sub County. Former Amani National Party (ANC) Secretary General Godfrey Osotsi said Kadenge was an inspiration to many sportsmen in the country for his endurance, patriotism and selflessness.
Former Vihiga Governor Moses Akaranga noted that the late was a legend and inspired many young footballers to take up the footballing carrier. “As a nation and the Vihiga County community we mourn the loss of such a legend in the country,” Akaranga said.
The wife of the late, Mebo Kadenge said the family has lost a pillar in their lives and they are saddened by his death. “We mourn the figure of this family such a loving husband and the father to my children,” she said.
