Vihiga County Teachers say they are ready for the rollout of the new Curriculum system by the Ministry of Education. Speaking in his office Maurice Chalenga Secretary General of the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Vihiga Branch said teachers from the region are ready for the rollout exercise of the Curriculum.
He said the rollout exercise might face challenges keeping in mind that a few teachers have been trained. “As teachers from Vihiga we urge the Ministry Education to make sure teachers are well trained and there is enough supply of books before the rollout of the Curriculum,” Said Chalenga.
He added the Curriculum will give students an opportunity to pursue what they are good in, and this will help them in shaping their careers.
Chalenga noted that the new Curriculum will bring new changes, and improve the education sector in the Country. The Secretary General questioned the decision by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) scrap the names of Teachers Union officials, Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) and (KNUT) saying it’s a government scheme to tame them.
