Traders in Vihiga have a reason to smile after the county government commenced the disbursement of Ksh. 75, 000,000 as soft loans to boost their small business.
The funds will be distributed to qualified traders by approval from fund administrators and ward committees set up in the 25 wards in County.
Through trade, tourism and industrialization ministry, the loan launched as Vihiga county empowerment fund will enable traders to borrow money without interest.
Qualified individual and groups will be loaned a minimum of 3,000 and a maximum of 50,000 shillings and traders are encouraged to apply for the loans to boost their business.
While distributing loan cheques to traders at Avugwi hall in Sabatia sub-county governor Moses Akaranga said the fund is going to boost business in the county.
Akaranga cautioned traders against misusing the funds and advised them to put the money into proper use to expand their business.
He urged traders to repay back the loan on stipulated time a move he said will enable other traders to access the funds
