National Super League side Vihiga United has recruited seven players to bolster the squad ahead of the league’s kick off next month.
Head coach Edward Manoah said he had dropped five players in the restructuring excise aimed at strengthening the club sponsored by County government of Vihiga.
“I have made changes in the squad. I brought in experienced players to be able to help us with the challenging task ahead of us in the NSL”, Manoah said.
Ramadhan Mwalimu a defensive midfielder has been brought on board on loan from Premier League side Kakamega Homeboyz alongside teammate and goalkeeper Ramadhan Juma.
Dennis Nandwa from Premier side Western Stima joins the team on loan to strengthen the defense.
Another new entry is Hillary Shisia from West Kenya sugar and Clayde Senaji a former student at Givogi secondary school both are attacking midfielder.
The team has also acquired the services of Dennis Lugalia, a defensive midfielder from Division One side Silibwet FC from Bomet and Nelson Asena, a former student at Friends School Kigama.
Players dropped by the coach include, Duncan Esendi Vidambo, Charles Bisa, Eric Nyamagiri, Reuben Shahasi and midfielder marshal Jacob ‘Daddy’ Atinda2who rejoined his former club and United’s archival Palos FC from kisumu.
Manoah said that team had upped their preparations for the league and has confidence that they will earn promotion to Premier League next season.
“I have not gone fir the big names as expected by many. I believe in raw talent and not recycling players,” said the former AFC Leopards coach.
He added: “Those who will underrate my boys will be doing it at their peril. They are rearing to go and can’t wait for the league to kick off”.
He noted that the team will be proceeding to Nakuru thus weekend for the pre-season preparations.
They will play several build up matches among teams in Nakuru County in including Nakuru Allstars who were related from Premier league last season.
Among clubs that United will be facing off in the NSL includes Kariobangi Sharks, Zoo Kericho, Nakumatt, KCB, Modern Coast and Talanta among others.
