In a decisive step towards strengthening grassroots governance, Hon. Martin Pepela Wanyonyi today convened a crucial meeting with Village Administrators from across Webuye East Constituency. The gathering, which also saw the participation of Ward Administrators from Mihuu and Ndivisi Wards, as well as CDF Chairman Mr. Mutali Murunga, emphasized the vital role that Village Admins play in the decentralization of leadership and effective governance.
Hon. Wanyonyi praised the administrators for their pivotal role in bridging the gap between the County and National Governments, ensuring that the needs of the common Mwananchi are met through proper governance and enhanced intergovernmental relations.
In a separate event later in the day, Hon. Wanyonyi joined the family, friends, and residents of Mahanga area in Mihuu Ward to mourn the passing of the late Mzee Benard Tawai. In his heartfelt condolences, Hon. Wanyonyi described the late Mzee Tawai as a resilient, hardworking individual and a great supporter of the community.
During the gathering, Hon. Wanyonyi reiterated his unwavering commitment to the people of Mahanga. He announced that in the upcoming financial year, he has allocated KSh 3 million for the construction of classrooms and set aside additional funds for the construction of 10 latrines at Mahanga Primary School. Furthermore, Hon. Wanyonyi revealed that he has secured a KSh 5 million sponsorship from KCB Bank to support TVET learners next year.
Hon. Wanyonyi also expressed his gratitude to Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) for converting its Webuye Branch into a TVET center, which will equip learners with essential technical skills for the future.
