The digital literacy program where more than 1 million school children will receive tabs; so far 80 thousand teachers have been trained in the information and communication technology to help with the program”.
Muia says the healthcare has improved drastically for the past 8 years from two referral hospitals in the country to more than 14 referral hospital. “Through the help of the government, 1.2 million self-delivery free maternity facilities been delivered to public hospitals; the mortality rate of maternity mothers has reduced by 2000”. The Jomo Kenyatta International Airport is one the successful project says Mwangi. “It has upgraded to a terminal of 2.1 million passengers in terms of arrival. The security problem is also being handled by the government through the modernized police division.
The forensic lab that has been under construction is almost done to help in processing evidence in time. The government has allocated two helicopters to be used for surveillance “, explains Mwangi. These are just but few of the many projects in progress.
The on-going corruption graft has not and will not affect the Vision 2030 accomplishment explain Mwangi. “The vision 2030 is achieved through projects but not as per the projects”, says Mwangi. He explains that Gross Domestic Product (GPD) when they started the projects was 600 million but now it has risen to 1500; despite the corruption in the country, it’s not affecting the progress.
