The vote counting process is ongoing well in Nandi and across the country after the closure of the polling stations at 5pm yesterday.
Speaking to the Media, Nandi County elections manager Mr. Silas Rotich confirmed that the counting of votes in the region is ongoing and so far provisional results are trickling in.
Rotich said polling centers across the region of Nandi were closed at 5pm and were opened at exactly 6am the required time by the commission but those stations which the voting exercise did not kick off at the official time due to failure of KIEMS kits were accorded extra time to complete the process.
Rotich cited that so far Nandi voters turn out was good with 80% lauding the voters’ efforts in turning out in large numbers to exercise their democratic right.
There was no voting exercise conducted at Our Lady of Peace girls secondary school in Nandi Hills following the mysterious missing of ballot papers in stream one meant for MCAs which forced the exercise postponed until due directions are made by the Commission thus all the MCA candidates for that polling station unanimously agreed that the exercise be postponed.
He revealed that constituency tallying center is meant to disclose the MP and the MCAs results while that of the County tallying center is meant to declare the Governor, Senator and Woman Rep results respectively.
