Wrangles are evident in Ford Kenya after the leadership of the party endorsed Kiminini MP Dr. Chris Wamalwa to contest for the gubernatorial seat in Trans Nzoia county. Led by the secretary general of the party Martin Waliaula, the leaders endorsed Dr. Wamalwa for the governor post come next year general elections, saying they have lost confidence in the leadership of governor Khaemba who they described as a Jubilee mole.
The current Governor Patrick Khaemba won the seat on a Ford Kenya party ticket and is facing internal opposition with several officials of the party vowing not to work with him following allegations that he doesn’t involve leaders in deciding party matters.
Waliaula disclosed that they have sufficient evidence to suggest Governor Khaemba has been colluding with the Jubilee administration and he dared him to come clean on the allegations leveled against him.
They said the party is most popular in the county and the way its leaders, not only Governor Khaemba, have at some point shown signs of wavering and lack of loyalty to the party have raised eyebrows and something has to be done to sort the party issues.
His sentiments were echoed by the party youth leader within the county Rodgers Barasa who said they have sufficient proof to suggest that Governor Khaemba has no stand.
He gave an example of the chief of staff Julius Mbagaya and political advisor Mwambu Mabonga who he said came from the opposition and was given the post by the governor after ignoring the people who campaigned for him in the past general election.
Women leader of the party from Kwanza sub-county Jacquelin Mutasio said the party will not entertain some politicians who have been dining with other parties in several functions and appealed for decorum by members of the party so that members do not embrace party hopping as has been the case in the past.
They, however, issued a stern warning against those delegates who might in one way or another be swayed by the Jubilee party which is making its landmark declaration this weekend of dissolving some constituent parties and forming one party. There were plans by several delegates from the party to attend the meeting in Nairobi, assertions that were supported by Kwanza counterpart Moses Puuka, who warned some delegates not to be enticed to attend the Jubilee party launch.
This declaration comes few days after the Kiminini legislator Chris Wamalwa hinted that he plans to contest for the gubernatorial seat within the county in the coming general elections during the burial of the late Jennifer Masis.
Wamalwa who has been vocal in criticizing governor Khaemba in most forums he has attended has complained of being left out when it comes to making vital party decisions, adding that the governor should aim to bring the party together to iron out their differences.
Khaemba on his part has also been criticizing the legislator about what he was saying as just a matter of playing politics in matters pertaining development in the county.
