Bungoma County Governor Wycliffe Wangamati has urged farmers in Ndalu ward to diversify their farming to improve livelihoods and boost household nutrition in the County.
Speaking in Tongaren on Wednesday where he kicked off a 20-day Ukulima Mashinani Initiative – a one-on-one engagement meetings and training sessions with 45,000 farmers across the County, Wangamati said that farmers can venture in maize farming but they can practice other activities including fish farming and avocado farming.
He urged farmers to embrace fish farming and promised that the County Government will give them full support including supply of fingerlings and commencing of production of fish feeds.

The “Ukulima Mashinani” Initiative will see the Governor meet 1,000 farmers in each of the County’s 45 wards and distribute farm implements and machinery to farmer’s groups.
In Ndalu, Governor Wangamati visited a fish farmer where he also met farmers in Mitua Soysambu and Tongaren wards.
