Southampton FC coach Ronald Koeman has insisted no player will leave the club when the transfer window opens on January 2.
At the moment, Harambee Stars skipper Victor Wanyama and his Senegalese counterpart Sadio Mane has hit transfer headlines but with Koeman’s latest comments, then none of them will leave the club.
“They can prepare what they like to prepare. Don’t spend time trying to buy a player of Southampton because it’s impossible.” He is reported saying.
“They talk about players from Southampton because we have some good players and there is always interest in players, and the ambition of players is about playing Champions League.” Coach Ronald added.
“We know what we like to do and how we like to do our business. That means in January nobody will leave Southampton.” Said the coach.
Wanyama has been highly rumored to be attracting interest from his former coach Mauricio Pochettino now with Totenham Hotspurs while fellow North London club Arsenal are rumored to be preparing a bid for the combative Kenyan midfielder.
In his Kenyan visit early this month, Arsenal legend Robert Pires said Wanyama could be a good addition to the Arsenal squad especially due to the injuries picked up by Thomas Coquelin and Mikel Arteta and urged Wenger to think of bringing him over to Emirates.
