Trans Nzoia County Ford Kenya party chairman, who is also the MP for Kwanza, Ferdinand Wanyonyi has said they support ODM leader Raila Odinga’s sentiments about a parallel tallying centre.
Recently, IEBC insisted that no parallel tallying centre will be allowed during the general election, citing that they are the only body allowed to tally and announce election results.
The MP said they as Ford Kenya fully support Raila Odinga’s idea, saying it will help the opposition to fully know how many votes they’ve garnered. He added that as the opposition, they won’t allow votes to be rigged this time round, and will only accept votes ascertained and confirmed by party observers.
The Kwanza MP said they will educate their members on how to maintain transparency during the general election by taking pictures of the results which have been tallied and announced by IEBC at the stations, and thereafter sending them to the polling centres set up by the opposition. He said, previously, people have tampered with the votes, and they didn’t reflect the true tallying records in the respective polling stations.
He added that they’re ready to educate their supporters concerning peace during this electioneering period and encourage them to avoid acts of hooliganism, and urged leaders from different parties to embrace the same path. MP Wanyonyi urged the County residents to remain united and avoid divisive politics that seeks to divide residents along tribal lines.
