The ministry of Finance has said that County governments have so far received their financial allocations without delay.
Responding to the Governors who previously threatened to suspend County government activities in the next 30 days due to lack of funds, Finance Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi said a total of 158.024 billion shillings have been given to County governments.
The funds include the debt for June as well as the financial allocation for July, August, September and October this year.
According to Mbadi, all payments to the devolved governments have been made except for this month of November which has not yet come to an end.
The CS has said this in a statement few hours after the Council of Governors on Monday threatened to stop providing services to the people if the National Assembly and the Senate do not resolve the dispute regarding the amount of money that should be given to the County governments.
While the Senate wants counties to be given an allocation of approximately 400 billion shillings, the National Assembly maintains that 380 billion shillings should be given to the county governments.
The situation has led the opposition leader Raila Odinga to call on the two parliaments to resolve their differences and funds be given as soon as possible to the county so as not to cripple the provision of services to citizens.
