Residents of Webuye East Constituency gathered in large numbers today at Makuselwa Primary School to commemorate Madaraka Day, a pivotal moment in Kenya’s history. The celebrations attended by the area Member of Parliament, Hon. Martin Pepela Wanyonyi, who delivered a speech emphasizing the significance of the day and the progress within the constituency.
In his address, Hon. Wanyonyi extended his gratitude to the constituents for their impressive turnout, acknowledging their dedication to honoring the nation’s forefathers who tirelessly sacrificed for Kenya’s independence. He underscored the importance of never forgetting the heroes whose vision and struggles laid the bedrock of the nation’s freedom.
The MP also took a moment to commend the elders who were instrumental in the historic creation of Webuye East Constituency, carved out from the larger Webuye Constituency. He lauded their foresight and unwavering commitment to securing better representation and improved service delivery for the local populace.
Further highlighting community efforts, Hon. Wanyonyi praised the leaders and elders who have tirelessly advocated for the actualization and operationalization of Namarambi Division. He had previously revealed that the division offices were on the cusp of official commissioning.
Following the Madaraka Day celebrations, Hon. Martin Pepela Wanyonyi officially commissioned the newly constructed Namarambi Divisional Headquarters in Makuselwa, Ndivisi Ward just as promised.

This transformative development will allow residents of Wabukhonyi, Misemwa, Makuselwa, and Marinda Sub-Locations to conveniently access essential government services; such as birth certificates and national ID applications right at their doorstep, enhancing accessibility and efficiency.

Turning his attention to infrastructure, a key concern for many constituents, he reassured the public regarding the Misikhu–Brigadier road. He pledged to ensure its permanent rehabilitation during his tenure, emphasizing his commitment to improving local connectivity. In a firm warning to the contractor responsible for the project, the MP stated that any further delays or laxity in execution would not be tolerated, signaling his determination to see the project completed efficiently and effectively.
Also present at the event were Webuye East DCC Peter Yegon, Ndivisi MCA Alfred Mukhanya, Sub County Administrator Ben Masika, and other local leaders.
