Webuye East MP Martin Pepela Wanyonyi has today announced the upcoming launch of the Investor Super Cup 3rd Edition, a highly anticipated sports tournament that will take place at the Masindu Primary School grounds. The competition, featuring teams from across the constituency, is designed to promote sportsmanship, unity, and equal opportunity for local talent. “We are committed to ensuring this tournament is fair, transparent, and provides a platform for everyone to showcase their skills,” Wanyonyi said.
Earlier in the day, he joined the residents of Maraka Ward in mourning the loss of Edith Kokonya, a pioneering businesswoman who made significant contributions to the local economy. He praised the late for her leadership, hard work, and the positive impact she had on the community. “Her legacy of determination and success will continue to inspire the next generation of leaders,” said the MP.
He also condoled with the family of the late John Bukaya (Tombo) in Malava Sub-County, father to Martha Inzai, the Communication Officer for Webuye East. He described Mzee Tombo as a reliable and caring father figure to many, the MP said, “Mzee Tombo’s wisdom and support were deeply felt by everyone who knew him. His passing is a great loss to our community.”
He attended the burial of Victor Kimutwa in Bakisa Village, where he expressed his condolences to the family and the community. Speaking at the ceremony, the MP paid tribute to Kimutwa for his hard work and dedication to the area. “Victor was a man of integrity, whose contributions to this community will not be forgotten,” he said. “We mourn his passing.”
In addition to attending the funeral, he used the occasion to share important news with the community regarding upcoming development projects. The MP announced that, as part of his ongoing commitment to improving education in the area, he would deliver a new bus to St. Paul’s Nzoia RC Secondary School in Maraka Ward in the new year. “This bus will help ease transportation challenges for students, ensuring they can access their education more easily,” said Hon. Wanyonyi.
He also provided updates on several ongoing projects, including the nearing completion of a new multi-storey building at Bakisa Girls’ School and the extension of electricity to the villages of Bakisa and Lwile. These infrastructure improvements are part of Hon. Wanyonyi’s vision to enhance the quality of life for residents and provide more opportunities for education and development in the region.
Concluding his remarks, Hon. Wanyonyi expressed his commitment to continuing to serve the people of Webuye East with focus on education, infrastructure, and community empowerment. “Together, we are working towards a brighter future, and these initiatives will create lasting change for all,” he said.
