Webuye East MP Martin Pepela Wanyonyi on Thursday issued Ksh. 12 million in bursaries aimed at supporting university and tertiary students across the region. As part of his commitment to the education sector, Hon. Pepela has ensured that each university student receives Ksh. 10,000, as per the promise made in earlier meetings and consultations with student leadership. This bursary is vital financial support for students as they prepare for their upcoming exams without financial hindrances.
In addition to the general bursary support, special consideration has been given to students living with disabilities, ensuring they receive the necessary assistance to pursue their education with greater ease and accessibility.

Speaking at Kibabii University, where he had taken a bursary cheque, Hon. Pepela encouraged students to remain resilient in the face of challenges, urging them to pursue their goals with courage, determination, and focus.
“We are committed to ensuring that our students have the resources they need to succeed. Education is key to empowerment, and we will continue to invest in initiatives that make learning more accessible and sustainable,” he stated.
Earlier in the day, Hon. Pepela was at Lutacho Primary School in Ndivisi Ward, where he officially commissioned a life-changing water project. The project, which will serve over 1,240 homesteads within the community, will provide access to clean and sufficient water, significantly improving the health and well-being of local families.
The community’s excitement was palpable, as parents, teachers, and students alike expressed their gratitude for the water project, which will eliminate the need for children to walk long distances to fetch water. This is expected to increase school attendance and reduce interruptions to students’ education. Moreover, the provision of clean water and sanitation facilities is essential in maintaining a healthy school environment, ensuring that students can focus on their studies without the burden of waterborne diseases.

Hon. Pepela also emphasized the importance of infrastructure development in schools, highlighting that such projects are essential for creating conducive learning environments. His leadership continues to make a tangible difference in the lives of students, ensuring that education is not only accessible but also sustainable for future generations.
