The government has been called upon to take responsibility and provide solutions to the recurring road accidents on the Webuye-Kitale highway, which has seen over six accidents in the past month alone, culminating in the recent tragic death of Maxwell Masika, a teacher at Holy Family Misikhu Primary School.
During a fundraising event for Masika’s funeral held in Savana, Mihuu Ward, Webuye East MP Martin Pepela Wanyonyi emphasized the urgent need for Roads Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir to find effective measures to reduce the increasing number of accidents on this critical route.
The call for action was reinforced by former ward representative George Khasabuli, who stressed the necessity of implementing measures to curb the alarming rate of accidents.
In addition to addressing road safety, Pepela also committed to working with primary school teachers to enhance education standards by improving infrastructure and resources in schools.
The plea underscores the growing concern for road safety and the need for immediate intervention to prevent further tragedies.
