Webuye East MP Alfred Sambu has pledged to avail more funds for the education sector in his constituency, saying it’s the best investment for any society, especially for the young generation. Speaking while addressing parents, teachers and pupils at Misikhu Holy Family Girls Primary School during the presentation of a new school bus, Sambu said he is impressed by performances of the school and other schools in the constituency, “I’m deeply impressed with the result of this school and other schools from Webuye East,” he said adding that that prompted him to yield to their request for a school bus. He cited that previously, more money has been allocated to the education sector in his constituency when compared with other sectors.
He cautioned parents who don’t take their children to school, adding that their days are numbered, “We’ve availed lots of resources to schools as leaders and parents you have a key role to make sure all your children are in school, or else, we’ll be doing zero work,” he said, “We want a hundred percent school attendance.” He urged the school to work hard and continue posting great results, “You have no excuse to give, by not producing good results,” he said, saying the reward they can give back after receiving the bus is posting good results.
According to the school headteacher Philomena Momanyi Moraa, the school tried to get a bus from other leaders but their efforts were rebuffed, until the area MP assured them of his assistance. She pledged to ensure the school delivers better results, and she challenged other schools in the area to also work hard and challenge Misikhu Holy Family Girls primary school. The school management led by the board of management chairman Dan Simiyu promised to work together to produce better results and thanked Sambu for fulfilling his promise.
