Addressing the media after issuing out the cheques to the school managements comprising of school headteachers and boards of governors, Lincoln Barasa who handed out the cheques on behalf of the area MP Alfred Wekesa Sambu who is held up in Nairobi said development projects in schools should go on despite the effects of the Coronavirus, especially now that students are at home.
He urged contractors to make sure they keep in mind the regulations set by the Health Ministry as they go on with their work and warned those who may have intentions of misusing the cash that they’ll be prosecuted. He also requested parents and school headteachers to be vigilant and make sure that the contractors do a good work befitting the funds allocated and complete the work on time before schools reopen. He added that the CDF management will be visiting the sites every time to inspect the progress of the projects.
The school heads led by St. Cecilia Misikhu Girls High School appreciated the gesture by MP Sambu and the CDF office, saying many schools are in bad shape, especially due to the heavy rainfall, and that the funds will be used to renovate the classrooms and dormitories.
