Bungoma County assembly health committee has been expressed its concern over the state of Webuye Sub County hospital saying it has been mismanaged leading to a poor execution of services and incurring of depts.
The committee chairman George Makari said after a thorough scrutiny of the facility they found out that it has been run down and patients are not getting better services despite it being a pioneer hospital in the region.
Makari said the payment records for patients at the facility are not well kept and the hospital superintendent allegedly colludes with some of them to shelter the files ending up not paying anything after they have been discharged.
He added that the superintendent has also been misusing the ambulance belonging to the hospital by running his own errands saying after it broke down a lot of funds from the government had to be used for its servicing.
He said the facility is able to take care of the patients’ needs very well if proper management is put in place saying as a committee they will not tolerate an individual to run down a facility that was started to cater for the less fortunate needs.
“We have recommended that the superintendent should not only be transferred but an inquest be launched to ensure he does not run down another facility elsewhere,” he said.
The hospital superintendent Wambasi Mutoro has since been transferred to Sinoko health center in Webuye East constituency.
