Webuye East Constituency is preparing for a significant milestone as President William Ruto is set to launch a game-changing electricity connectivity project in Namoni village tomorrow, Thursday. The Last Mile Connectivity initiative is designed to bring electricity to rural areas, a move that is expected to greatly enhance energy access for local communities and contribute to their economic growth.
In addition to the power connectivity project, Bungoma County Governor, Kenneth Makelo Lusaka, has shared that the President will also announce the much-awaited rehabilitation of key roads in the region. These include the Misikhu-Naitiri road and the Lugulu-Makuselwa road, which are vital for improving transportation and spurring further development in the area.
Webuye West Member of Parliament, Dan Wanyama, who was with Governor Lusaka highlighted the dual benefits of these projects: not only will they improve infrastructure and quality of life, but they will also create job opportunities for the youth. The introduction of reliable electricity is expected to unlock new business prospects, improve living standards, and attract additional investments to the area.
As security measures are enhanced in preparation for the visit, local authorities have urged leaders to avoid divisive political rhetoric, ensuring that the focus remains on the development agenda. MP Dan Wanyama further appealed to the youth to steer clear of political manipulation that could disrupt the progress being made.
Officials from Kenya Power and the Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC), who are responsible for overseeing the project, have emphasized the importance of community involvement. Once the power infrastructure is in place, residents are encouraged to maintain it properly, as it will offer long-term benefits that will support both economic and social development in the region.
