Politics and call for dialogue took the center stage at the burial of Rev. Florence Wafula, wife to Bishop Alex Wafula as speakers asked Azimio leaders to call off demonstrations.

Maraka MCA Ali Machani Mutoka said the economy is not doing well and that there’s no need for hiding and the only noble thing the President should do is to extend an olive hand to the Azimio leader Raila Odinga, sit around the table and have a candid talk on how to steer the country forward.

“We can bury our heads in the sand pretend that all is well, many people and Kenyans in large are really suffering, the food prices and fuel are skyrocketing each day and there’s need for negotiation between the two leaders, things aren’t good, we need peace because without it no investors will want to invest in Kenya and this will affect the economy badly,” said Mutoka.

His sentiments were echoed by former councilor Mr. Erick Soita Patropa who said the country is in a state of crisis and it needs a lot of prayers and dialogue and not chest thumping being seen from some leaders.

He has called for peace and harmony and find a better way of solving the issues raised by Azimio leaders.

Webuye West MP Dan Wanyama Sitati agreed with the most speakers on the issue of state of economy in the country but he however said that he doesn’t believe that carrying sufurias on the head and demonstrations called by Azimio leadership will make things any better and especially criticized the Luhya leaders carrying sufurias that it’s against the traditions and appealed to them to style up.

On the issue of dialogue, Wanyama said it should be on the issues affecting the people and not the handshake that the Azimio leader Raila Odinga is used to doing and eventually enter the government through what he terms as the back door.

“If there’s any discussion, it should be on matters of how to improve the economy and not the handshake because Kenyans made it clear and the courts too on Presidency, and Dr. William Ruto is the President and the best thing Azimio can do is to play it’s part of checking the government of the day because any time there is handshake only one person and a few people close to him benefits yet life has been lost and businesses affected, “ said Wanyama.

Wanyama also criticized some leaders in Azimio from Western Kenya whom he said have been in power for many years yet they have nothing to show and said they have contributed a lot in the problems Western Kenya is going through and asked them to stand aside and give them an opportunity to serve the great people of Western.

He assured residents that the economy will bounce back and appealed to Kenyans to give the President ample time and support his initiatives.

” Am sure the President will stabilize the economy but we need not only to give him time but also support him to achieve it because we got it when the country was in bad shape,” concluded Wanyama.

Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa said there are some leaders who had an opportunity to help the community they come from but did nothing and therefore they have no moral authority to lecture them on leadership and appealed to residents not to give them an ear.

Former Bungoma Woman Rep Dr. Reginalda Wanyonyi asked the clergies to pray for the country and warned some leaders against waging wars and fueling the community against each other as she asked them to guard their mouths.
