Webuye West acting Sub County administrator in the County government of Bungoma Eunice Simuli has faulted parents from Webuye, especially Matulo ward for failing to carry out their parental responsibilities and advising their children, something which has paved the way for rampant teenage pregnancy cases.
Speaking to West Media, Mrs Simuli said most parents don’t take time to sit with their children and advise them, and have instead left the responsibility to teachers. She added that Matulo ward has been the most affected with an increase in the number of girls affected, who are lured by long-distance truck drivers, who later abandon them.
She also noted drug abuse has led to an increase in teenage pregnancies, and she appealed to security officers to track down those who are culpable. She assured parents that education wi secure a bright future for their children and said the community must fight against the teenage pregnancy trend.
