Hundreds of mourners and leaders joined the residents of Mauko village in Butula Constituency in Busia County to bid farewell to Rt. Major Dr. Philip Chanji Muyoti fondly known to many as Buhuru who until his demise was one of the Directors of West Media Limited.
His family led by his sister Hon. Justice Jane Muyoti Onyango eulogised the late as a great man and brother who was the most patient person and that his patience made the relationship of the family grow.
” My brother Philip was a gentleman, tough guy, compassionate and wonderful to be with. He was my friend, confidant, advisor but very principled person but again humble, cruel hand of death has taken away a man every member of the family loved so much and we will miss him very much, ” said Hon. Justice Jane.
Her sentiments were echoed by the late’s daughter Marguerite Helene Nichols who said that her father was the source of her happiness and she has lost an important person in her life who was always there for her and that the gap he has left may never be filled any time soon.
West Media Directors Amb. Dr. George Sirengo Masafu and High Court Advocate Mr. Cyprian Wekesa eulogised their business partner as a hardworking person whom they depended on so much.
They said he played a very crucial part in coming up with West Media Company.
“I have been away for ten years and Philip has been the one taking care of everything and even making sure that the staff’s welfare is sorted and and everytime we have a meeting when am around the feedback is always positive and he has made West Media to grow into a giant empire from one radio to now two radio stations and a TV station because of his fantastic work, we will miss him greatly. “said Amb. Masafu.
On his part Mr. Cyprian Wekesa eulogised him as a friend who he trusted and was compassionate and worked hard on everything he valued in life.
” He was a hands on person who believed in hard work and nothing else and through him we have seen tremendous development in terms of our Company that we jointly started and he has been a very industrious person, we have lost him at the time we really needed him most but maybe God saw that he was such a great person and since he had played his part it was time to finish the remaining in heaven.” Eulogised Mr. Wekesa.
West Media Limited staff led by the programmes manager, Mr. Nandemu Barasa hailed the late as a gentleman man whose piece of advice would not go minus a big smile an assurance that everything will be okay.
” Dr. was a great inspiration to many of us and was full of advise, courage and strength, it pains us that he has gone so soon, but his legacy will remain in our hearts,” said Mr. Nandemu.
He reiterated the commitment the late Dr. Muyoti had in making sure that West Media starts a TV station that would articulate issues pertaining Western region and he will be largely remembered for this noble course that has created employment opportunities to many youths.
The funeral was also attended by host of Jugdes led by Chief Registrar the of Judiciary Anne Amadi , Judges Anne Ngugi, Aggrey Muchelule, Judge Judith Omange among others who paid their tributes to the family of their colleague Hon. Justice Jane Onyango of the Environment and Land Court.
