Hundreds of Kakamega West Media fans came together to register for the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) cover. Speaking after the exercise, Kakamega County West Media fans chairperson Chris Nyongesa said the exercise targeted all members from Kakamega County, adding that they’ve been experiencing difficulties when it comes to catering for medical bills, especially the vulnerable persons in the society like the widows.
The exercise which had a telling contribution by MCA Brian Mafunga, through more efforts by West Media, saw other residents who aren’t fans were registered. Mafunga urged all residents to register for NHIF saying it’s vital and will benefit them in the long run. He also urged West Media supporters to join the Kakamega County Sacco, which lends out money to its members at small interest rates and will be paying the monthly NHIF cost for members. Efforts by West Media to benefit its supporters through NHIF registration and loan lending institutions seem to have gained momentum just months after West Media Directors and staff decided to make sure that its supporters are united.
