As a way of bonding and knowing the preferences of its listeners, West Media Limited Company organized a one on one, meet and greet session with fans in Shinyalu Sub County in Kakamega County.

During the tour, where many fans were present to exchange views in Virembe and Handidi in Shinyalu Sub County, the listeners were excited and expressed the joy of having an exclusive moment with their favorite TV and radio presenters.

Most of them, whom West Media presenters advised they should join youth and women development groups and West FM Salaams club, said it was a moment they’ve always been waiting for that chance. They said it came at the opportune time, given they didnt know exactly what to do to enhance their relationship with the station.

West FM Salaam’s club Kakamega chairman Chris Nyongesa praised West Media for the initiative they had taken, adding that through the station they have benefitted greatly, directly and indirectly.

He urged Virembe and Handidi residents to join the Saalams club, saying that they had so much in store for both listeners and residents.

In Handidi, Rev. Jonah Kanyanga, an advisor to Kakamega pastors, was happy saying that youths in the area especially from his church are talented and have lacked a clear direction on exploring their talents.

He said that a lack of facilities among the youth has been a major challenge adding that most of them are talented when it comes to various games in school but after completing their studies they can’t further their talents.

He urged the station to organize mentorship programmes for youths who are idling around in villages, who should develop ways of self dependency instead of engaging in criminal activities and drug abuse.

He also pointed out that most women still depend on their husbands for small provisions, something that leads to frustrations and domestic violence when they are not fully satisfied.

Some youth showed the interest of uniting with the station to explore the potential, as some cited they were dancers, and others footballers who don’t have the facilities.

Many who came out to meet presenters were happy and promised to work hand in hand with West Media to achieve their dreams.
