West Media company salaams clubs have been advised to do diversification of projects for maximum profits. Addressing members of Tusizame West FM salaams club in Nzoia ward, Likuyani sub county during the commissioning of tents and maize shelling machine projects, Mr. Mark Yakulula, a business consultant said it was important to have a wider variety of investments that will enable them maximize their returns.
He said some businesses were seasonal and difficult to sustain and therefore diversification would enable them to achieve long-range financial goals at minimum risk.
“I have seen most groups prioritizing tents and chairs as their major project. The question is if all of us own tents and chairs who will hire them? We should have an alternative project that when the demand for one project is low then the other will support it and move on smoothly,” said Mr. Yakulula, thanking the group for combining the tents and sheller project.
Yakulula, who is the coordinator of a poultry project christened “Likuyani kuku mia, Pesa mfukoni” sponsored by the director of research at the Kenya National Museums Dr. Evans Taracha gave 100 chicks to the members and urged more groups to write proposal to be supported by the programme.
“We want to improve the economy of our people by engaging them in various development projects,” said Yakulula. His sentiments were echoed by the Bungoma All in One umbrella Mr. Edward Wanyama alias Edu governor who urged group leaders to ensure transparency and accountability to win the confidence of members in their groups.
On his part the Tusizame salaams club chairman Mr. Charles Murunga said the group has projected to start a variety of income generating projects.
