The West Pokot County government has got a major boost in the health sector after it received a consignment of assorted medical equipment worth Kshs 24 million courtesy of Saving Mothers Organization. The equipment will boost service delivery at Kapenguria County Referral Hospital and sub county hospitals. The equipment include theatre equipment, ultrasound machines, incubators, electric beds, manual beds, and operation theatre tables.
Speaking at Kapenguria County Refferal Hospital, County Health CEC Mr. Geoffrey Lipale said the equipment will be used by health workers in the County. He said the County has seven professionals who will teach others in using the machines. Mr. Lipale urged youths in the area to embrace joining medical courses.
He said the County has only 7 engineers working in 120 health facilities in the County. “We didn’t have sufficient equipment, only those from the national government. This is a major boost for our people to get better services,” he said. West Pokot Governor John Lonyangapuo said the County government has prioritized the health sector in its budgetary plan to ensure residents get better health care.
