West Pokot Senator Samuel Poghisio has urged Deputy President William Ruto to tone down his political moves and work according to President Uhuru Kenyatta’s directives. Poghisio said DP Ruto is the principal assistant to the President and he shouldn’t take up tasks if he hasn’t been told to do so. “If you’ve not been given assignments you cannot set them for yourself,” he stated.
He has warned DP Ruto, saying he shouldn’t seek to supersede the President, “We serve one President at a time,” he said, “There is no room for someone else and people shouldn’t take themselves ahead of President Kenyatta.”
He further questioned the initiatives recently started by the DP seeking to empower the youth. He has come under fire for handing out wheelbarrows, motorbikes in the name of empowering the hustler nation, with several leaders questioning how the hand outs are supposed to help tackle poverty, noting they are just political gimmicks.
