Ford Kenya Secretary General David Eseli has said Western Kenya leaders must work together to ensure the region realizes its political and development goals. Addressing the press in Nairobi, flanked by ANC leaders, Eseli said Western Kenya leaders have been used for long by other leaders to gain political mileage, and condemned leaders who are focused on painting the region in bad light, “It’s now evident even by the way they harass our leaders,” he said. He reiterated that now is the time for parties to work togther, saying ANC and Ford Kenya are ready to reach out to other leaders and push for the agenda.
However, he acknowledged that forming one unified party as the Western Kenya bloc is hard, given that political parties should carry the image of the nation, adding that it’s easier for the government to come up with one party even though it ain’t lawful, “For the opposition, it’s very hard to come up with a party like that,” he said.
Lugari MP Ayub Savula supported the sentiments, saying ANC and Ford Kenya leaders arrived at the decision after a meeting. Savula further criticized the treatment of self-proclaimed NRM general Miguna Miguna, “We insist that Miguna is a Kenyan by birth and is a Kenyan citizen,” he said. He faulted the treatment of Miguna at JKIA, where he was forced on a plane en route to Dubai on Monday night, even though he didn’t depart the airport. He urged the government to respect court orders, saying the nation will be further reunited when the government respects Court orders.
